Ravensdown offers several scholarships to encourage students to undertake study within the agriculture or horticulture sector:

Ravensdown Hugh Williams Memorial Scholarship

Each year, sons and daughters of Ravensdown shareholders are eligible for the Ravensdown Hugh Williams Memorial Scholarship. Founded in 2000 to commemorate the late Hugh Williams – a Director of the Co-op from 1987-2000, this scholarship provides $5000 per year currently completing an agricultural or horticultural degree, up to a maximum of three years. The recipient may also be offered paid holiday employment if a position is available.

Status

Currently awarded to Sophie Ridd (2021 winner), Tim Sheed (2022 winner) and Georgia Higinbottom (2023 winner).

Atihau-Ravensdown Scholarship

In 2011 Atihau Whanganui Incorporation (AWHI) and Ravensdown established the Atihau-Ravensdown university scholarship. The university scholarship, for AWHI shareholders and their descendants, is for undergraduate study in an agricultural or horticultural degree.

Only one scholarship will be available at any one time (e.g. if it is a 4 year scholarship, only that scholarship will be financed until the 4 year term is completed, then the scholarship will again be available for applications).

The scholarship recipient will receive a cash grant of $5,000 per year for the duration of their undergraduate study. Payment of the scholarship for years subsequent to the first will be subject to satisfactory academic performance in the preceding year.

The recipient may also be offered paid holiday employment if a position is available.

Mangatu Blocks Incorporation - Ravensdown Scholarship

In 2012 Mangatu Blocks Incorporation and Ravensdown established the Mangatu Blocks /Ravensdown university scholarship. The university scholarship is for Mangatu Blocks shareholders, their children or their grandchildren, enrolled to undertake undergraduate study in an agricultural/ horticultural or related undergraduate degree.

Only one Mangatu Blocks Incorporation-Ravensdown scholarship will be available at any one time (e.g. if it is a 3 year scholarship, only that scholarship will be financed until the 3 year term is completed, then the scholarship will again be available for applications).

The scholarship recipient will receive a financial contribution of $5,000 per year towards course fees, which will be available on an annual basis for the duration of their undergraduate study, to a maximum of 3 years.

Tahora - Ravensdown Scholarship

In 2011 Tahora and Ravensdown established the Tahora /Ravensdown university scholarship. The university scholarship is for sons and daughters of Tahora shareholders undertaking undergraduate study in an agricultural or horticultural degree.

Only one scholarship will be available at any one time (e.g. if it is a 3 year scholarship, only that scholarship will be financed until the 3 year term is completed, then the scholarship will again be available for applications).

The scholarship recipient will receive a cash grant of $5,000 per year for the duration of their undergraduate study (see the conditions below).

The recipient may also be offered paid holiday employment if a position is available.

Parininihi ki Waitotara (PKW) - Ravensdown Scholarship

This university scholarship is for sons and daughters of PKW shareholders undertaking undergraduate study in an agricultural or horticultural degree.

Only one scholarship will be available at any one time (e.g. if it is a 3 year scholarship, only that scholarship will be financed until the 3 year term is completed, then the scholarship will again be available for applications).

The scholarship recipient will receive a cash grant of $5,000 per year for the duration of their undergraduate study (see the conditions below).

The recipient may also be offered paid holiday employment if a position is available.
