About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for the newly created role of Planner as part of our growing Ravensdown Environmental consultancy. The role will ideally be based in Christchurch, however we are open to considering alternative locations for the right candidate. Working with our Principal Planner, you’ll provide top quality planning and consenting advice, helping farmers meet their environmental obligations. You’ll become a key part of the wider team delivering superior farm environmental support and advice to many of our loyal customers and industry stakeholders.

We’re open to considering candidates with arrange of experience levels, therefore remuneration will be commensurate with experience.  As a growing business unit within a large cooperative, a variety of work is on offer and the future is very bright with significant long-term career potential.

About You:

You might be a recent graduate or you may be a more experienced Planner looking for a new challenge. You’ll have all the characteristics of a consultant, such as professionalism, dedication, tenacity, honesty and integrity.  You’ll be motivated by the commercial realities of business and work well in teams and within dynamic environments.  You’ll be driven and ambitious with a keenness to develop.

Ideal skills and qualifications:

  • A relevant Planning degree (A post-graduate degree in planning or environmental fields would also be beneficial)
  • Practical experience in applying for and/or processing resource consents, preferably those related to the agricultural sector
  • Experience in the agricultural industry, ideally with exposure to commercial consultancy
  • Strong knowledge of the Resource Management Act and associated planning framework
  • Project management skills, especially around timeframes and budgets
  • Excellent report writing and oral communication skills
  • High standards of excellence, customer service, values and ethics
  • Understanding of Overseer would be beneficial
